Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry

Following on pretty quick from the global success of Short n' Sweet, Man's Best Friend is a super fun, raunchy release. With some sparkly, groovy instrumentals, Sabrina Carpenter continues with her signature cheeky, innuendo-laden style. Jack Antonoff's production sounding nothing like anything he's done before, there are some moments that wear their 70s, Abba-esque influences on their sleeves, such as the closing track Goodbye. In terms of subject matter, there's nothing particularly new here, Sabrina explores old relationships failing, new hook-ups steaming and more pretty vicious roasting of ex partners. After a few listens, I'm really enjoying it, however, it doesn't feel as cohesive and locked in as her last release. Every song on Short n' Sweet really earned it's spot. They felt like they were made to be there, and fit the aesthetic and vibe immaculately. On here, while many songs do fit, the weaker moments break the immersion and feel slightly out of place. Not to say there's anything bad here at all, but there's also a bit of lacking of emotional depth that was present on SnS. Overall though, she has pulled off another amazing album once again.
