This album is relatively more relaxed when compared to previous releases, ironic given the title and cover art seem to portray a highly energetic experience. Nostalgia is definitely a prominent theme here, whether that be for the bands earlier years as seen on Miss Atomic Bomb, a direct sequel to Mr Brightside, or for life itself, looking back on past personal experiences and how they led to where they are today, as seen on The Way It Was, Heart Of A Girl or Runaways. The two most vibrant songs here are Runaways and Battleborn, which do a good job of bookending this album with energy, while keeping the middle more relaxed. Coming back to the title then, I think it references the past as the battle that the present is born from, rather than representing the battle itself, and that's why this is a more relaxed record, the hard work has been put in and now they can take a breather. Overall, this is a great album with a lot to offer.
