The Gate

Her voice is insane. Those vocal flips, her tone, the notes she's hitting are other-worldly. If I hadn't seen videos of her singing live, I would think it's autotune or some vocaloid effect. Her voice is addictive to listen to. There's a lot of really interesting production here also. The plucky strings on Go As a Dream, the pulsing base on Insomnia. The fact that she uses her own voice as a guitar on So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings is pretty cool. The album kinda has an arc, the first half is more about anxiety, fear and apathy, whereas the second half is more about letting go, trusting and realisation that things are going to be ok.
