Immunity and Sling are linear, with the former being about her present, discovering who she is and her sexuality but also reflecting on her past relationships and really what made her who she was at that point. Sling is similar, albeit more sombre. Following the young, exciting-yet-nervous energy is a more subdued, mature pondering of what the future might hold for her. It still analyses her present and past, especially regarding the creation of this album, but this look ahead is a new angle for Clairo. Leaving behind the bedroom-pop, she hones in on a more elegant baroque-pop palette. She wonders if she'll make a good mother, and questions if her experience with raising her dog would help at all. You really feel for her, it feels like an anxious contemplation, you're left hoping for the best outcome for her.
