For The First Time is a journey, albeit a short one. It has winding, anxiety-inducing instrumentals supporting vocals closer to spoken-word prose than actual lyrics. The music swells and meanders, to a point where it can get somewhat overstimulating at times. This fits well with the topics, as there's a lot of worry thematically. Worry about fitting in, about what the future holds, about being too in your own head, and about awkward situations. Every band member gets a chance to shine, from the saxophone, to the violin, to the bass and drums. It's an interesting one for sure. Might grow more on me after a few extra listens.
